The NMA Peach Council is an organization comprised of National Management Association (NMA) chapters and individual members located throughout Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.

 

The purpose of the Council is to provide a network for sharing of information and provide a place for gathering and supporting individual chapter representatives.  Council delegates are appointed by their individual chapters and meet on a quarterly basis within the Council area.

 

The Council meets to provide strength, seminars, and ideas for chapter growth by networking with other chapters within the council area.  Through this unique exchange of information and ideas, council delegates are able to build on the proven successes of shared chapter activities and programs.

The NMA Peach Council was chartered on April 19, 1985.  The purpose was to increase NMA chapter representation throughout the Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.  The Council is part of the Southeast Area of the NMA.  There are over 24 councils represented nationwide by NMA chapters. 

 

The NMA Peach Council hosted its first Southeast Area Chapter Management Conference (CMC) in April 1990 in Marietta, Georgia, with over 300 NMA chapter representatives in attendance. 

 

The council competes for national awards at the annual NMA National Conference based upon Council activities and performance throughout the year.

The Council continually strives to maintain a professional organization dedicated to the objectives of the NMA corporate structure.  However, the personal objectives of the Council are to:

 

  • Increase chapter delegate attendance at quarterly council meetings with an objective of increasing the strength and to broaden the leadership base of the council.
  • Increase membership and the number of chapters in the states of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
  • Enhance council meetings by focusing on individual chapter needs.
  • Conduct Mini-LC’s to provide training to all chapters through out the states.
  • Increase communication between chapters and board members through the Council News Letter, “Peach Fuzz”.

  • Provide assistance and knowledge in obtaining chapter award goals.

Any NMA chapter or NMA individual members in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina are eligible for NMA Peach Council membership. 

 

 

Current membership consists of the following chapters:

·         Lockheed Martin Leadership Association (LMLA) #531

 

·         Savannah River Site (SRS) #73

Dues and fees are collected to help defray the cost associated with activities supported by the council.

 

The following are the types of dues and fees.

Annual dues are to be paid prior to July 1st to the Treasurer of the Peach Council. 

 

Registration fee are due from each chapter attending with a minimum of $40.00 per chapter. 

 

Individual members are charged a registration fee of $20.00 each.  They do not pay annual dues.

Peach Council delegates are notified of quarterly meetings by the hosting chapter and are established and published in June of each year.

 

Hosting responsibilities are alternated between chapters & independent members, with each chapter/independent member hosting a meeting within the year.

 

The quarterly meeting consists of:

 

·         Friday Welcome Dinner (dutch treat)

·         Saturday Workshop

·         Working Business Luncheon

·         Saturday Business Session

·         Saturday Chapter Information

·         Other Activities Planned by Hosting Chapter

 

The Friday welcome dinner is optional and is provided so that those choosing to arrive early can meet, socialize and network with other chapter delegates. 

 

The Saturday workshop and business meeting begins at 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. (depending on agenda) and usually last until 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. to allow for travel and alleviate work conflicts. 

 

Dress code for the meeting is business casual; however, business attire is required for the annual American Free Enterprise Speech Contest, Presentation of the Gold Knight of Management Award or other announced special meetings.

  • Governed by its members who elect National Officers and Directors
  • Elected officers are Chairman of Board, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Area Chairman
  • National Directors are elected by the chapters in a particular state and the number of national directors is governed by the number of chapters in that state
  • The Executive Board guides the affairs of the Association and is comprised of Elected Officers, President of the Association, Area Chairman and the Chairmen in Standing
  • A paid professional staff at NMA Headquarters in Dayton administers the day to day operation of the Association
  • Staff positions are President, Vice President of Professional Development, Finance Manager, and Vice President of Information Systems
  • Offers certificates in management studies and course leadership
  • Encourages certification for managers through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM)
  • Hosts Executive Luncheon programs throughout the country to obtain new chapters
  • Combines National Conference with Management Workshops to ensure a rewarding and educational experience for all in attendance
